The West Virginia Division of Corrections is an agency of the U.S. state of West Virginia within the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety that operates prisons. The agency has its headquarters in the state's capital of Charleston.
All of the department's facilities are overcrowded and understaffed. Press reports in late 2017 indicated the department was short 300 guards.
